Surah Ash Shu’ara

26:1
Ţā-Sīn-Mīm
Ta, Seen, Meem.
26:2
Tilka 'Āyātu Al-Kitābi Al-Mubīni
These are the verses of the clear Book.
26:3
La`allaka Bākhi`un Nafsaka 'Allā Yakūnū Mu'uminīna
Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.
26:4
'In Nasha' Nunazzil `Alayhim Mina As-Samā'i 'Āyatan Fažallat 'A`nāquhum Lahā Khāđi`īna
If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.
26:5
Wa Mā Ya'tīhim Min Dhikrin Mina Ar-Raĥmāni Muĥdathin 'Illā Kānū `Anhu Mu`riđīna
And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.
26:6
Faqad Kadhdhabū Fasaya'tīhim 'Anbā'u Mā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi'ūn
For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.
26:7
'Awalam Yaraw 'Ilá Al-'Arđi Kam 'Anbatnā Fīhā Min Kulli Zawjin Karīmin
Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?
26:8
'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyatan  ۖ  Wa Mā Kāna 'Aktharuhum Mu'uminīna
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
26:9
Wa 'Inna Rabbaka Lahuwa Al-`Azīzu Ar-Raĥīmu
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
26:10
Wa 'Idh Nādá Rabbuka Mūsá 'Ani A'ti Al-Qawma Až-Žālimīna
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
26:11
Qawma Fir`awna  ۚ  'Alā Yattaqūna
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah ?"
26:12
Qāla Rabbi 'Innī 'Akhāfu 'An Yukadhdhibūni
He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
26:13
Wa Yađīqu Şadrī Wa Lā Yanţaliqu Lisānī Fa'arsil 'Ilá Hārūna
And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
26:14
Wa Lahum `Alayya Dhanbun Fa'akhāfu 'An Yaqtulūni
And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."
26:15
Qāla Kallā  ۖ  Fādh/habā Bi'āyātinā  ۖ  'Innā Ma`akum Mustami`ūna
[ Allah ] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
26:16
Fa'tiyā Fir`awna Faqūlā 'Innā Rasūlu Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna
Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
26:17
'An 'Arsil Ma`anā Banī 'Isrā'īla
[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"
26:18
Qāla 'Alam Nurabbika Fīnā Walīdāan Wa Labithta Fīnā Min `Umurika Sinīna
[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
26:19
Wa Fa`alta Fa`lataka Allatī Fa`alta Wa 'Anta Mina Al-Kāfirīna
And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."
26:20
Qāla Fa`altuhā 'Idhāan Wa 'Anā Mina Ađ-Đāllīn
[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray.
26:21
Fafarartu Minkum Lammā Khiftukum Fawahaba Lī Rabbī Ĥukmāan Wa Ja`alanī Mina Al-Mursalīna
So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
26:22
Wa Tilka Ni`matun Tamunnuhā `Alayya 'An `Abbadta Banī 'Isrā'īla
And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"
26:23
Qāla Fir`awnu Wa Mā Rabbu Al-`Ālamīna
Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
26:24
Qāla Rabbu As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Baynahumā  ۖ  'In Kuntum Mūqinīna
[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."
26:25
Qāla Liman Ĥawlahu 'Alā Tastami`ūna
[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"
26:26
Qāla Rabbukum Wa Rabbu 'Ābā'ikumu Al-'Awwalīna
[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."
26:27
Qāla 'Inna Rasūlakumu Al-Ladhī 'Ursila 'Ilaykum Lamajnūnun
[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."
26:28
Qāla Rabbu Al-Mashriqi Wa Al-Maghribi Wa Mā Baynahumā  ۖ  'In Kuntum Ta`qilūna
[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."
26:29
Qāla La'ini Attakhadhta 'Ilahāan Ghayrī La'aj`alannaka Mina Al-Masjūnīna
[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."
26:30
Qāla 'Awalaw Ji'tuka Bishay'in Mubīnin
[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?"
26:31
Qāla Fa'ti Bihi 'In Kunta Mina Aş-Şādiqīna
[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."
26:32
Fa'alqá `Aşāhu Fa'idhā Hiya Thu`bānun Mubīnun
So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.
26:33
Wa Naza`a Yadahu Fa'idhā Hiya Bayđā'u Lilnnāžirīna
And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
26:34
Qāla Lilmala'i Ĥawlahu 'Inna Hādhā Lasāĥirun `Alīmun
[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.
26:35
Yurīdu 'An Yukhrijakum Min 'Arđikum Bisiĥrihi Famādhā Ta'murūna
He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"
26:36
Qālū 'Arjihi Wa 'Akhāhu Wa Ab`ath Fī Al-Madā'ini Ĥāshirīna
They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
26:37
Ya'tūka Bikulli Saĥĥārin `Alīmin
Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."
26:38

Fajumi`a As-Saĥaratu Limīqāti Yawmin Ma`lūmin
So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.
26:39
Wa Qīla Lilnnāsi Hal 'Antum Mujtami`ūna
And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate
26:40
La`allanā Nattabi`u As-Saĥarata 'In Kānū Humu Al-Ghālibīna
That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"
26:41
Falammā Jā'a As-Saĥaratu Qālū Lifir`awna 'A'inna Lanā La'ajrāan 'In Kunnā Naĥnu Al-Ghālibīna
And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"
26:42
Qāla Na`am Wa 'Innakum 'Idhāan Lamina Al-Muqarrabīna
He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."
26:43
Qāla Lahum Mūsá 'Alqū Mā 'Antum Mulqūna
Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."
26:44
Fa'alqaw Ĥibālahum Wa `Işīyahum Wa Qālū Bi`izzati Fir`awna 'Innā Lanaĥnu Al-Ghālibūna
So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."
26:45
Fa'alqá Mūsá `Aşāhu Fa'idhā Hiya Talqafu Mā Ya'fikūna
Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
26:46
Fa'ulqiya As-Saĥaratu Sājidīna
So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah ].
26:47
Qālū 'Āmannā Birabbi Al-`Ālamīna
They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,
26:48
Rabbi Mūsá Wa Hārūna
The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
26:49
Qāla 'Āmantum Lahu Qabla 'An 'Ādhana Lakum  ۖ  'Innahu Lakabīrukumu Al-Ladhī `Allamakumu As-Siĥra Falasawfa Ta`lamūna  ۚ  La'uqaţţi`anna 'Aydiyakum Wa 'Arjulakum Min Khilāfin Wa La'uşallibannakum 'Ajma`īna
[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."
26:50
Qālū Lā Đayra  ۖ  'Innā 'Ilá Rabbinā Munqalibūna
They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
26:51
'Innā Naţma`u 'An Yaghfira Lanā Rabbunā Khaţāyānā 'An Kunnā 'Awwala Al-Mu'uminīna
Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."
26:52
Wa 'Awĥaynā 'Ilá Mūsá 'An 'Asri Bi`ibādī 'Innakum Muttaba`ūna
And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."
26:53
Fa'arsala Fir`awnu Fī Al-Madā'ini Ĥāshirīna
Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers
26:54
'Inna Hā'uulā' Lashirdhimatun Qalīlūna
[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,
26:55
Wa 'Innahum Lanā Laghā'ižūna
And indeed, they are enraging us,
26:56
Wa 'Innā Lajamī`un Ĥādhirūna
And indeed, we are a cautious society... "
26:57
Fa'akhrajnāhum Min Jannātin Wa `Uyūnin
So We removed them from gardens and springs
26:58
Wa Kunūzin Wa Maqāmin Karīmin
And treasures and honorable station -
26:59
Kadhālika Wa 'Awrathnāhā Banī 'Isrā'īla
Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.
26:60
Fa'atba`ūhum Mushriqīna
So they pursued them at sunrise.
